  • Why I Still Pick Up $1 Items as a Reseller

Why I Still Pick Up $1 Items as a Reseller

One of the biggest questions I get as a reseller is why still pick up $1 items when I could focus only on higher priced inventory. The answer is simple small profits add up quickly when you source smart

As a home based reseller running Burgoon Home Haven I’m always looking for affordable fines that have everyday demand items like clothing basics home decor kids’ items and brand name pieces can often be found for just a few dollars sometimes even less at clearance or thrift stores

When I buy low cost inventory it gives me flexibility. I can price competitively, except offers and still make a profit without stress. Not every item needs to be a huge flip. Consistent smaller wins create steady income over time

I’ve learned that reselling isn’t about chasing the most expensive items. It’s about spotting value where others overlook it. A $1 item that sells for $12 – $18 may not seem flashy, but when you repeat that process consistently, it builds a reliable income stream from home

  • My #1 Rule as a Reseller: Profit Starts at Purchase

My #1 Rule as a Reseller: Profit Starts at Purchase

As a reseller in busy mom running Burgoon Home Haven’t from home, I’ve learned one simple truth; profit doesn’t start when you sell an item – it starts the moment you buy it.

One of the biggest mistakes new resellers make is paying too much for inventory and hoping to price high later. The reality is smart sourcing is what creates consistent income. Some of my best flips have come from low cost finds at Thrift stores, clearance aisles and bundle deals.

When I find items for under a few dollars, it gives me flexibility. I can accept offers, run sales or relist without stress, because my cost of goods is low. That’s the foundation of sustainable reselling.

Not every item sells overnight. I currently have listings that have been sitting for months, and that’s completely normal in reselling. The key is buying items with strong brands, practical uses and everyday demand- like athletic wear, home decor and kids’ items.

Running a home based resale business while managing work outside the home and family life means I focus on realistic profits, not perfection. Small margins add up over time, and consistency always beats chasing one big flip.
